“Bringing Technology to the Courtroom”

There are very few courtrooms in the UK that are specifically fitted out with the appropriate facilities to playback at a professional standard, video and audio evidential material. Those that are, will generally not be available for the majority of cases being heard in Crown Courts around the UK and N.I.

When C.C.T.V. and audio recordings are produced as evidence on a day to day basis by police and other agencies, the availability of suitable facilities in court to enable the playback of this type of evidence at a professional level is often overlooked.

Investigation teams spend millions of pounds with Forensic Science companies, producing enhanced Audio & Video evidence for presentation in court, only for it to be replayed on basic equipment. The presentation of technical evidence in a clear and precise way is essential if the court is to understand and interpret what is often vital evidence in criminal and civil proceedings.

Scott Johnson, of Infra-Tech UK Ltd explains: -

Infra-Tech UK Ltd specialises in fitting out courtrooms with professional Audio & Video equipment to a very high standard, giving courts the benefit of being able to display and playback evidence to maximum effect.

All of the equipment has been selected with considerable input from Independent Forensic facilities for ease of use and quality of playback.

Video equipment is of broadcast quality and is capable of 'interference free' freeze-frames and 'double fine' slow-motion playback, controlled by Jog/Shuttle or Search.

For example the replay of video tape evidence from 0.04 x normal running speed, to 11 x normal running speed - in any format.

Infra-Red Systems that use cordless headphones to 'project' the audio signal directly to the headphone can make the difference between a court and jury understanding what is said, often a vital part of any case that has audio information as part of the evidence. To avoid the courtroom acoustics and increase the concentration of the people listening, the infrared projection type of system provides the ideal solution.
