The Certificated Bailiffs Association was
formed in 1906 to provide a central organisation for certificated bailiffs and
civilian enforcement agents and to encourage ethical and professional conduct. There are two main categories of membership
which are based on passing our professional examination: corporate membership
is for businesses and private membership for individuals. Certificated bailiffs employed in the public
sector are welcome to join. All members are required to comply with the
Association’s Code of Practice. Regular
members meetings are held throughout the year and we publish a monthly
newsletter called INFO (a
complimentary copy is available from the Secretary). We also publish a Yearbook which contains the Association’s Rules, membership
directory and other useful information. The Association is a member of the
international professional body for bailiffs, Union Internationale des Huissiers de Justice et Officiers Judiciaires,
and is pursuing full membership. We
maintain good working relations with our partners in the enforcement
industry: the Association of Civil
Enforcement Agents, the Under Sheriff’s Association and the Sheriffs Officer’s
Association of England & Wales. We liaise with the IRRV, the credit industry
and the advice sector. We consult with
central Government on bailiff policy and legislation. Although we are not a dispute resolution forum,
we are concerned about the reputation of our members and therefore investigate
complaints under our disciplinary procedure.
All complaints must be in writing and addressed to the Secretary. The Certificated Bailiffs Association has been
cultivating a professional approach to civil law enforcement for over 90 years. Certificated Bailiffs Association Ridgefield House 14 John Dalton Street Manchester M2 6JR Tel: 0161 839 7225 Fax: 0161 834 2433 |
