Ex Police in Industry and Commerce
|
| EPIC
was founded in 1980 by a small group of ex-police officers working in the
security field and the inspiration and first Chairman of the organisation
was the late Arthur Rees, CBE, QPM, DL, former Chief Constable of
Staffordshire. |
| |
|
| The
objectives of the organisation are to: |
|
a)have
exchanges of information regarding security in industry and commerce for
the benefit and in the interests of individual members, their employees
and clients;
|
|
| b)assist
where possible with any other matters affecting members. |
|
| |
|
From
small beginnings EPIC has now developed into a substantial and highly
reputable professional association with a membership in excess of 500. An
executive committee ensures good standards and EPIC members are of
undoubted background.
All former Police ranks are present within the membership and there are
former serving representatives of all forces in England and Wales, several
in Scotland and the Royal Ulster Constabulary.
EPIC has expanded in line with the growth in the Security industry
generally.

|
| |
|
There
are other professional security associations but EPIC is different in that
the members have a common background of integrity with a unique wealth of
experience. This enables a ready source of information and guidance to be
available to Industry and Commerce.
Many members have attained additional qualifications in Security since
leaving the Police Service. Members of EPIC are now in some of the most
senior posts - as, for example, Group Security Advisers, Company Chief
Security Advisers, Security Controllers, Directors and Security Managers.
Many of the largest and best known UK companies and multi-nationals are
represented in EPIC. Additionally, many members are self-employed,
providing an advisory and investigative service to industry and commerce.
With a well established reputation EPIC is now respected by Government,
other Industrial and Commercial Associations and the Association of Chief
Police Officers (ACPO). Members are included on commissions, enquiries and
working parties engaged in examining developments in the security
industry. The views of the EPIC membership are sought in the planning of
new legislation and other fundamental issues.
EPIC has a written constitution to enable high standards to be cherished
and preserved. |
